This original artwork titled “Subaqueous” was inspired by the vintage Singer Sewing Machine that I inherited from my grandmother.
Wheel operated the piece was “free stitched” creating an abstract artwork reminiscent of an underwater world. Hence the name.
The backdrop is a cotton material that is a mono print work.
A process of painting onto a block, creating negative space by removing paint and also adding objects, then printing. It is called mono printing as only one print can be created from each piece. For this piece I introduced dried oak leaves to the print block to create the white shadows.
Inspired by the creatures of the sea and the waves washing over them.
The artwork is framed in a vintage timber frame that I re purposed to specifically hold the Subaqueous piece. The original traditional moulded frame was added to at the rear to create a ‘box’ like frame in which to hold the art.
There is no glass, so that you can see fully the detail of the stitched textile work. Painted in an off white the inner frame mount in the same colour, with a double mount in a deep royal blue.
The mount is pushed to the front so framing art artwork in its own little world. Drawing the eye inwards.
Outer frame 25.5 cm wide x 30.7 cm high x 4.5cm deep
Inner artwork 12 cm wide x 15 cm high
Your artwork will be packaged carefully and shipped to you by registered post.
The frame comes with picture hooks on the rear which have both gut and twine attached giving you two methods to hang your picture on your wall with.
